Meeting: Saturday July 16, 2005 5:30 PM. Be sure to work on the group tunes!
Gee, seems like a long time since I?ve seen you folks! I haven?t been able to attend since the April meeting, dadburn it. But I?m back now after going to festivals in Arkansas, Texas, Indiana, Ohio, North Carolina and Missouri since I saw you at a meeting. Those trips are fun, but I really do miss Tulsa when I?m gone. No matter which direction I?ve gone, seeing that first Tulsa exit on the way back in makes me very happy.
Plans are rolling for our 25th birthday bash on August 20th. We will be meeting in the new part of the church, the Family Life Center, and we will have a mountain dulcimer workshop by Evan O'Bannon and a hammered dulcimer workshop by David Moran in the afternoon. Then, in the evening, we?ll have concert appearances by both Evan and David, and I?m working on something for even more for the concert. We?ve had some wonderful players go through our midst in the last 25 years, and I want to get as many of them back as possible. Unfortunately, many have moved to other parts of the world, and we don?t have the budget to fly them all back first class on the champagne flight, so we can?t have everyone. But we?ll have enough to entertain us for a couple of hours, that?s for sure!
Once again, I want to suggest that we do not meet in September. There is another group that meets in ?our room? at the church on the fourth Saturday, and it?s not fair to make them move, and it?s confusing if we make ourselves move someplace else. As you recall, many of us will be in Winfield on our normal meeting night in September.
One more reminder: there will be a wedding in the main part of the church complex on the same night as our July meeting (that?s the 16th), so please remember to pull on around to the southwest side of the parking lot and come in the west door as we normally do. I don?t think there will be a conflict, as we?ve done the dual thing at the church before. So remember, we meet at Yale Ave Christian Church, southwest corner of 36th and Yale in Tulsa, on the third Saturday of each month (except September), and the next meeting will be July 16, 2005. Come at 6:00 for tune-swapping or getting any help you might need, or come at 7:00 for the business session and play-around. Can?t wait to see all of you!

With the sounds of fireworks still ringing in the ears, something about a good patriotic march gets me going. I never have tried to compose a march, perhaps I will work on it! Naw.. too much competition from John Philip Sousa!
I will probably not be at the meeting this month.. instead I will be at the Woody Guthrie Festival in Okemah. But depending on who is on stage at the time, I may jog back to Tulsa for the meeting. Time will tell--
