From the Prez....

Wow! Wow! Wow! What a great party we had in August for our 25th birthday. It was a bash, a real bash!

After some really fine workshops in the afternoon, our concert drew over 120 people. And they heard some outstanding entertainment, for sure. The concert was started with Jonathan Schultes on MD, then Evan O'Bannon on MD was next, backed up by Jackie Smith playing guitar, Moby Anderson on bass, and Steve Perry on HD. After an intermission that lasted just long enough for everyone to get a piece of the beautiful birthday cake, we resumed with Mark Tindle playing MD, and then we ended the evening with David Moran on HD and Joe Morgan on his collection of guitars (acoustic, National and harp). What a great concert it was. I think I said that, but it deserved being said again. It was just wonderful.

By the way, some folks asked about the cake. It was baked and decorated at Merritt's on 15th Street.

Okay, we can come down out of the clouds now, and get on with the business of September and October. WE WILL NOT MEET during September, not even on the 4th Saturday which we have done in the past. Another group meets at the church on that day, so we agreed to just not meet at all. We will resume our regular schedule, third Saturday of each month, on October 15th. I'm sure we'll all be rarin' to go and inspired when that date rolls around.

Well, it's off to Winfield for my family, and I really hope to see some of you there. Looks like another great lineup of talent there, and I always get antsy just waiting for the time to return each year.

Seeya!

Dennis.

"Notes" from the Editor!

A big month for most of us, its Winfield time, that means most of us go to Winfield. Living so close to this event makes me wonder why it is not widely known in the community? Then I am glad they all dont show up, its crowded enough already!

What a pair of Festivals tho.. I went to Kerrville for Labor Day, but the audience clearly was frightened away by the rumors of unavailable gas. In fact the most available and least expensive gas at the time was in Kerrville Texas! I recollect prices around $2.85 when it was above $3 everywhere else I saw.

Then two weekends in Winfield Kansas. Three consecutive weekends at festivals, I wish I could get the other 49 to be filled the same way! Perhaps I need to replace the calendar..

Looking forward to the next meeting in October whilst I wind down from the high!
