Meeting: Saturday October 15 2005 5:30 PM. (Back to meeting on our regular 3rd Saturday.) Its a fast month, the third Saturday kind of sneaks up on us!
Hey, there, clubbies! What a great time we had in August at our 25th birthday party. I know that Dana was able to take a bunch of pictures, so be sure to check out the website to see them.
In September, I did see quite a few of you up at Winfield. It was a good weekend, but then it always is. So many happy memories over the years, and so many great friends that we only get to see once a year while we're there. If you have never gone, try to fit it into busy schedules soon. If nothing else, just plan to drive up for a day or so (motels within 40 miles are usually full) and it's only about two and a quarter hours from Tulsa. It's truly an event you'll remember for a long, long time.
Several of you might also have gone down to Sawdust last weekend, and I'm anxious to hear from you as to how that went. I was able to go over to the revived Memphis festival that same weekend, and it was nice. All of it was indoors at a downtown church that was founded in 1832. Wow, talk about the things those walls have seen over the years!
Okay, that's it for now, and I'll see you on the 15th. Yup, that's right, the meeting comes early in October, on the 15th. Don't forget!
Dennis.
I have been busy finishing up two guitars, the first one is really sounding terrific. The second one still doesnt have strings on it. That creates a conflict for me tho, I need to show the guitars to potential buyers at the same time as this months meeting. So I cant make this one. If I still own either of them I will bring one to the November meeting. How's that for compromise? Wish me luck!
Last month my printer failed to print at all. (It is still in that condition.) So I didnt get the printed newsletters out at all. I will be borrowing a printer for this month as I know the need is coming up. My apology to those who didnt remember the meeting was canceled.
Winfield was a hoot as usual. Its interesting how my perceptions change over the years. This year I didnt go to any stage show whatsoever! Just went around and played music with friends. My big surprise was finding my friend Daniel Boling from Albequerque was there since he won one of the songwriting contests. If you missed that, he is both a great songwriter and picker. I sure enjoyed it.
