Meeting: Saturday November 19, 2005 6:00 PM. Elections! Be sure to attend the meeting and start your campaign now for office!
Hey, there, all you dulcimer girls and boys. We have a meeting coming up real soon, and it has sneaked up on me, for sure. I haven't been checking my email every day, and Dana has been hounding me to get my article written. So, don't blame him for the lateness of the newsletter, it's all my fault this time!
I hope that some of you got over to Chandler for the Deep Fork Festival a week or two back. The Roberts family is a really nice bunch, and I hope they can continue the festival for a long time.
We have election of officers this month at our club meeting. If anyone is interested in serving in any position, please-please don't be bashful. Let me know and we'll see that you get what you deserve. Or what you want. Whichever is easiest to accomplish! Our elections are about the only formality we try to maintain from our original bylaws. Sometimes we just admit that our club has survived for over 25 years in spite of its leadership, myself strongly included in that statement.
Okay, we'll see you on Saturday, November 19th, anytime after 6:00 PM (or as long as we're still there). That's at Yale Avenue Christian Church, on the SW corner of 36th and Yale, over on the west part of the campus there at YACC. Bring a friend!
Time for a rest.. looking back at the last two years has been interesting. Browse the back issues of the newsletter on the site to see what I mean. I think my best contribution to ITDC has been the website, what isnt obvious to anybody but me is how many people are discovering ITDC through the site. Sevearl each month! Examining the log files reveals an interesting list of "google searches" each month.
For fun here is the complete list of "query strings" used by various people on google to locate our site in the last two months:

It is easy to see some people tried their search several times, and some repeated the same basic querry days later. Persistance may pay, but I dont understand this one.. anyhow.. I am curious to know why Aaron O'Rourke is so popular! And I have no idea why google thought ITDC was a good reference for Samantha Oberkfell, but who am I to argue?
Most of them are looking for "Indian Territory Dulcimer" or some similar search, so I presume those are members. However there are some fascenating queries such as "playing a dulcimer", or "tulsa dulcimer group", etc. These are potential new members and I think the site is clearly informing them know about us. And Dennis I hope you got the business from the last query! And Becky any idea who is so interested in finding you? (You will notice I have been vague in our contact info on the main page for that reason.)
Of course I like the one "ITDC rules"! Yea..
Likewise our email newsletter is working, our physical mailing is down to about 8 copies per month, vastly reducing our postage bill. This should leave more dues in the treasury to support dulcimer related activities such as the birthday party this year. I would love to hear a treasurers report to see if what I suspect is true. Its interesting to see that email is fading as the preferred mode of communications, so in the future.. who knows?
Certainly its time for a new editor! I will happily keep the server running if desired, and it can be moved if the club prefers. ITDC has leased the domain until sometime in 2009 (then its renewable with us having first dibs), so keeping a web presence makes sense to me, hopefully my successor will feel the same way. Maintining the website can be done from the comfort of your house if you are the lucky successor.
Well the hollidays are on us! How about we work off some of the feasting with a little finger workout? Burn those calories now!
See you at the meeting!
