Meeting: Saturday February 18, 2006 6:00PM Yale Avenue Christian Church.
Wow, where does the time go. I'm really sorry this is out so late, and I don't know where all the days went since we met in January. Seems like it was just a few days ago.
Just a followup to our previous requests. We really need someone to assist with the mailing out of the snail mail newsletters, and also in getting the articles into the newsletter and posted on the website. Dana Swift has been really cool about getting all this set up for us, but he's done his part and it's time for someone else to pitch in and help us out a bit.
Our February meeting date will be SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2006, and we continue to meet at Yale Ave Christian Church, 36th and Yale in Tulsa. Meeting will start about 6:00 with some informal gathering and extra help for those who would like to be helped. Then, about 7:00 we'll all get back together for a short business session and start the play-around. When we get tired of playing around, we'll stop and have a few munchies. Remember, if you'd like to have some munchies at the meetings, bring something you like and we betcha that everyone else will like it also.
Upcoming festival dates:
Saturday, February 18, the Stringfling Festival in Joplin MO. That's where I will be instead of at club meeting, unless the weather gets lousy enough to keep me home (or send me back). It's put on by the Ozark Wilderness Dulcimer bunch.
Friday-Sunday, March 24-26, the Ohio Valley Gathering in Evansville IN. I got to attend this festival two years ago, and it is well run and has lots of fine workshops. Many outstanding teachers and performers, and it is run by the Louisville Dulcimer Society.
Tuesday-Saturday, April 18-22, the Dulcimer Jamboree at the Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View AR. One of the best festivals and workshops you will find anywhere in the country. More info at www.ozarkfolkcenter.com.
Friday-Sunday, May 12-14, the annual LSSDS festival at Glen Rose TX. The Lone Star club puts on an outstanding show, and this year will be their 25th festival, and possibly the last. We've heard that the Oakdale Park, where the festival is held, has been sold, and they just aren't sure what the future will be for the festival and the other events held there. I spoke to the promoter, Dana Hamilton last weekend, and he said they're bringing in some big names and spending money they don't even have just because it might be the last time around. This is a FREE festival, folks. Don't miss it. More info at www.lssds.org (should be posting something about the Glen Rose festival very soon).
I think that's all for now. See you soon! Dennis.
